NinjaProbe NetFlow Exporting

From network analysis and traffic engineering to accounting and security, NetFlow is playing an ever increasing role in all areas of network monitoring. But for most operators, generating NetFlow statistics are a performance-sapping or high cost proposition. In-situ switches and routers, while capable of generating NetFlow records, will often suffer a significant performance impact while doing so, and consume scarce SPAN port resources.

The alternative of using a stand alone probe, solely for the generation of NetFlow records is a costly proposition that leads to proprietary vendor lock in. NinjaProbe’s powerful NetFlow exporting component can relieve overworked switches and routers, simultaneously delivering multiple NetFlow records to multiple collector functions each with selectable packet sampling rates (up to 1:1). Incredibly, even with these low sampling rates, NinjaProbe simultaneously performs other monitoring tasks while generating NetFlow records at line rates approaching 8Gb/s.

NinjaProbe’s comprehensive 5-layer IP filtering may be applied to traffic prior to a NetFlow record being generated and exported, allowing for targeted flow analysis. These records may be immediately exported or stored locally for the purpose of post examination. To meet regulatory compliance obligations, NetFlow records can also be used in support of data retention mandates.
